Project Shelter:
First, let us understand the causes of homelessness and how we can address them.

An increase in rent and a lack of available jobs

Breaking away from violent relationships, or homes

Societal Approaches:
Certain programs such as social services may provide people with counseling, assistance, therapy, or rehab, but nonetheless, homeless rates are increasing by rates never seen before.
Other programs such as CalWorks provide people with housing support and more.
But one question remains:
If there are dozens of programs aimed at helping those in need, why are homelessness rates increasing?
Our Approach:
Our theory is simple:
These programs are out of reach for many. We need to establish a society that is judgment-free and does not criticize individuals for their current state, whether that be financially or mentally. Stigma is the main contributor to why many don't seek help.
What we can do:
Opportunities for All is partnering with homeless shelters across Los Angeles and will make a change in each individual's life by providing necessary materials. This includes personal hygiene kits, clothes, and food. We will redirect donations directly to people in need, to create an intimate experience and allow a change in their lives. By supporting our cause, you are not only considering your community as a whole, but you are affecting the lives of children and adults in need.
